Speaking after inaugurating the event, chief scientist and director-in-charge Navin Kumar Rastogi highlighted the significance and created awareness about World Food Safety Day. Scientists, technologists, scholars and research students also took part in the demonstration on detection ofadulterants in edible oils, spice products, sweets, milk and honey.
Analytical instruments used by food safety laboratories such as EA-IRMS, LC-MS/MS, GC, HPLC, GC-MS/MS, ICP-AES were also exhibited during the programme on Wednesday.
A demonstration on food hygiene and microbial safety was also arranged. Posters on food regulation, food labelling and nutritional labelling, food addiction and contaminants were also exhibited.
