Indore: In a move against adulteration, the district administration in Indore took action on Sunday, halting construction in two factories and seizing over 20,000kg of food items worth more than Rs 10 lakh.
Under the directive of collector Asheesh Singh, a team led by additional collector, Gaurav Bainal conducted surprise inspections at Sharad Udyog and Shri Mansha Industries in Agarwal Udyog Nagar, Palda.
Alarming discoveries were made, including unhygienic manufacturing conditions and suspicions of food item adulteration.
Samples of gram flour, pulses, rice, and peas were collected for testing due to concerns about contamination. Major irregularities, such as poor hygiene, absent medical certificates for employees, and disorganized storage, prompted an immediate halt to production in both establishments.
With legal action pending upon receipt of testing reports, this crackdown signals a firm stance against food adulteration, prioritizing public health and safety.
