Around 9 pm, several girl students complained of diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach ache shortly after finishing their meal, sources said.
On being informed, a team of five doctors from Lamtaput Community Health Centre (CHC) went to the hostel and sensing the severity of the situation shifted the students to the hospital.
“It is suspected that the students fell ill due to food poisoning. Condition of 10 students was critical but now all of them are stable and recovering,” said Kanhu Charan Patra, chief district medical and public health officer, Koraput. Food samples from the hostel will be collected for laboratory tests, he added.
When contacted, hostel warden S Srichandan said, “Few of the students complained of vomiting and uneasiness after dinner. Hence, they were admitted to the hospital. They returned to the hostel after they felt better.”
