The standards of 'Haleem', a non-veg dish cooked with pulses, grains and meat, will also be decided now. According to the set standards, only those who make this dish will get the certificate of FSSAI i.e. 'Food Safety Standard Authority of India'. The government has approved amendments to improve the standard of food in India. Apart from this, only one organization will be able to issue all types of food products. FSSAI has been given the responsibility to get certificates only from there for all types of food items sold in the Indian market.
BIS,AGMARK is now over
Earlier, some food products had to get a certificate from BIS i.e. Bureau of Indian Standards. Agriculture-related products had to take an 'AGMARK' certificate. Now all these have been abolished. Standards for the amount of fatty acids in all types of milk products, from goat's milk or sheep's milk, have also been reset. Along with this, standards for fatty acids present in milk are also being set like the standards of fatty acids found in ghee.
No standards for Haleem yet
The standards of honey wine 'MEAD' and the standards of ready-to-drink alcoholic beverages are also being reset. Union Health Secretary Apurva Chandra has taken this decision after a meeting with different agencies from farmers. Standards are being changed regarding milk, while standards for Haleem are being set. The government believes that no standards were ever set for Halim.
