Welcome to Safe Food Mitra
The government aims to set up 100 food streets across various states in the initial phase of the project. The project is being implemented in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and with technical support from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
Under this scheme, each food street will receive a substantial grant of Rs. 100 crore. 100 such food streets will be opened in 100 districts across the country. The funding for the project will be sourced from the National Health Mission, with the ratio of financial assistance ranging from 60:40 to 90:10. The responsibility of implementing the scheme and providing the necessary infrastructure lies with the state-level municipal corporations, development authorities, and district collectors. The branding of these food streets will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines set by the FSSAI.
