Calling it a ‘painful saga of unholy collusion’ between the ‘police officers and a gang,’ which added chemicals to the milk in the Verka Milk Plant, Mohali, in 2015, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the State of Punjab to place on record a copy of the status report indicating the investigation conducted so far and the action taken against the guilty police officials, as per the order passed in 2019 by the SDJM (Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate), Khamanon, district Fatehgarh Sahib.
The HC said, “The SSP, Fatehgarh Sahib, is directed to file his reply positively before the next date of hearing,”while adjourning the matter for February 26. This order was passed by the Bench of Justice NS Shekhawat, hearing a petition filed by Kamaljeet Singh, who seeks the quashing of proceedings against him in an FIR registered under sections of the Food Safety and Essential Commodities Act and sections of cheating, theft, and other IPC at PS Khamano in 2015. Singh is represented by Advocate Sandeep Singh Jattan at the HC.
As the matter came up for hearing, the HC learned that, as per the FIR registered on July 14, 2015, spurious milk was being supplied to the Verka Milk Plant in Mohali, and milk mixed with chemicals was being supplied to the public at large. There was an unholy collusion between police officers and a gang, which added chemicals to the milk in the Verka Milk Plant, Mohali.
