The institute is certified to train street food vendors, midday meal staff, anganwadi workers, hostel cooks, restaurants, caterers, industries, and others who are engaged in the food industry. The institute gives 25 types of training regarding preparing food, hygiene, quality food, protocol, etc. The training is from 2 hours to 12 hours and initially, the institute will fix nominal prices for each course. FSSAI training and approval are mandatory to start a food business but most of the stakeholders do not have them.
KS Tippanna, assistant professor at the department of food processing technology, DSLD College in Haveri, who is also the nodal officer of the training programme, noted: “Our main target is street food vendors because majority of them have been violating the norms while preparing and serving food to the public. There is lack of hygiene, and they do not maintain quality and quantity.
