The department stressed on ensuring cleanliness and adopting impeccable hygiene standards during manufacturing of edible goods, especially in view of the forthcoming Holi festivities.
The initiative saw fruition through an awareness workshop organized by the food safety and drug administration at IIA Bhawan, Udyog Kunj, Panki Site no.5 which was presided over by the additional district magistrate (City) of Kanpur Nagar.
Directives were issued to manufacturing companies, urging them to procure valid receipts bearing a DSSI license number. Failure to produce such legal documentation could lead to lodging of complaints, with complainants’ identities protected.
Highlighting a recent scheme titled ‘Ruko’ launched by the food safety and standards authority of India (FSSI), the manufacturers were urged not to reuse edible oil in production processes. Instead, they were asked to collect and deliver used oil to a designated company for proper disposal.
