The 'War for Pure Food' campaign, which started during the previous Congress government, has now been renamed as 'War on Pure Food Adulteration'. Under this, action will be taken against adulterated food items. This campaign started on Thursday through the Medical and Health Department, which will be run for the next 15 days.
Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Sampatraj Nagar said that to take action against adulterated food items, the state government is running a 'Pure Diet Adulteration Per War' campaign from February 15, which will continue for the next 15 days. He said that action will be taken against adulterated food items under the campaign. It will also be ensured that the temperature at all three levels of production, transportation and storage of food items remains equal.
He said that during this period, by promoting Mission Coarse Grains under PM Shri Anna Yojana, people will be told about the benefits of coarse grains. Also, under 'Right to Place', such public places or religious places will be identified, where completely pure food items can be available. However, the department is continuing its drive against adulterated food items, he said. Under the campaign, 384 samples were taken from January 1 to December 31 last year, out of which 51 were found to be sub-standard, 39 miss brands, 30 unsafe. The ADM court had imposed a fine of Rs 21 lakh on him. At the same time, 29 samples have been taken in one and a half months this year and a fine of Rs 11 lakh has been imposed in 18 cases.
