The team discovered that three suspicious individuals, posing as fake food department officials, were extorting money from shopkeepers and threatening them with a fine of Rs five lakh if they did not obtain certificates from them. Subsequently, the FSDA team informed the local police and lodged a complaint against these individuals. The operation was conducted by chief food safety officer Naresh Narayan Jha, food safety officers Rajesh Maurya, Vivek Kumar Maurya, Bhaiyalal Prajapati, Sandeep Srivastava, and food assistants Ramdhani Lal and Ravishankar.
